Children at St Mary and St Joseph RC Primary School in Pocklington have collaborated with a local pottery to produce a stunning floor mosaic marking more than 50 years of the school.
Each child created their own image on a tile with the help of Lyn and Gerry Grant, of Fangfoss Pottery.
The children then laid out the tiles for the mosaic to be fired at the pottery before being delivered to the Maxwell Road school and attached to a base.
Gerry Grant said: “It is our biggest pottery project to date. We are really pleased with it.
“The children did a very good job.”
Julie Sutherland, head teacher, said: “I am so proud of the children for their efforts.
“Thank you to everyone who has worked on the mosaic, which incorporates the wording of our mission statement, with the children’s tiles representing our school this year.
“We have been working on this garden area for the past two years to create a special space for our children and our school community and we have further plans for it.”
