A village playgroup is having to close after 44 years of service.

The South Cave Playgroup will shut its doors for the final time on 20 December due to increasing running costs and age of the church hall where it is based, which requires serious works.

The playgroup is a community run charity which is managed on a volunteer basis by parents past and present.

A spokesperson for the school said: “We are sad to say we can no longer survive.

“Thank you to all parents past and present for all your support and help over the past 44 years.

“A special thank you to all the staff at the playgroup for their hard work and commitment over the years. You have been wonderful and have created many happy memories for the parents and children of South Cave and surrounding areas.”
