Lifestyle, dubbed as the ‘Jewel in the crown’ of Humberside Police will officially Launch on Wednesday May 8 from the Iconic Clough Road Police Station, Hull to celebrate its 25th Anniversary.
Key speakers, including Humberside’s new Chief Constable Justine Curran, Principal Supporter Malcolm Joslin from BP and Peter Stevenson from the Environment Agency, will reflect upon the success of Lifestyle and the many opportunities the project has given participants who have been involved since the project began.
Organisers will also be looking to the future and inspiring thousands of young people aged between 10-16 years old throughout Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North and North East Lincolnshire to team up with their friends and make a real difference to the areas in which they live by getting involved in Lifestyle this celebratory year.
In 25 years, Lifestyle has attracted a staggering 151,000 participants working in excess of 2.5 million hours to make a difference to their local communities during the summer holidays.
The Launch will see the current reigning Lifestyle champions, ‘Daisy Chains’ chat about their Lifestyle experience over the five years they have been involved in the project and help reveal the brand new Lifestyle T-shirts. A new DVD will be screened which will be used to inspire young people in over 400 schools across Humberside to be part of the project.
Lifstylers aged 10 to 16 have an action packed summer in store, with a whole host of new challenges for teams to get stuck into, including AAK’s Safety Challenge and the return of the Humberside Fire & Rescue Service Firefighter Challenge. Threre are a range of other challenges, including Cyber Safety and the BP Enterprise Challenge.
Prizes include a holiday of a lifetime in Florida, adventure holidays in France and the UK, and the chance to go motor racing at Silverstone, plus mountain bikes, and day trips to the UK’s leading theme parks.
