FUNDRAISING is continuing for a dedicated scout group who have managed to pull in almost another £1,000 to add to their total.
The Market Weighton Scout Group are busy trying to raise the capital to expand their premises just off High Street- but have been told it would costs them in excess of £139,000.
So far they have had £40,000 pledged and have raised more than £28,000 themselves. Most recently, they raised £238 from their Christmas fayre, while a cheque was donated by local Freemason groups for £400.
Spokesman for the group, Bob Speak, said: “The Freemasons have been very supportive towards the project. We now have about £71,000 to go but we have got a lottery application in so we have our fingers crossed.”
If successful, the project could see the hut double in size and have brand new facilities fitted.
