SALON staff are hoping to be a cut above the rest in their fundraising efforts for a boy suffering from childhood cancer.
Workers at Spirit, on Market Place, Pocklington, are holding an evening of fashion, hair and beauty on 22 September to raise as much money as possible for the Charlie Hook Appeal.
Charlie, who lives in Hull, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of childhood cancer on his fifth birthday and his family need to raise £300,000 in order to send him for potentially life-saving treatment abroad.
The fundraising event will be held at the KP Club in Pocklington and will include fashion from some of the regions top designers including Kelly Ewing and Isabel Wong.
There will also be hair and beauty stands with demonstrations. Street dance group “Firefly” will open proceedings.
Tracy Murr, the owner of the salon, said: “We wanted to showcase some of the work we do outside the salon.
“Once we had decided to carry out the event, a week before our seventh birthday, we read about Charlie Hook.
“Just reading the article brought us to tears, I think when you have children yourself, seeing what Charlie’s family are going through is heart-wrenching.”
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm, cost £15 which includes cocktails and canapes on arrival.
