Flooding caused traffic to be diverted again in the Pocklington area this week when a section of the B1246 had to be closed in both directions.
The road was closed because of flood water between Pocklington and Warter on New Year’s Day and remained closed when the Post went to print. The B1246 has closed a number of times in the past due to flooding.
It comes after flooding caused road closures on Boxing Day in Pocklington and Stamford Bridge.
An East Riding Council spokesperson said: “The road has had to be closed a number of times over the holiday period, despite several attempts to resolve the problem. We have worked hard over the last two years to try to avoid flooding here, by relaying the drain, but on this occasion, the problems have been caused by blocked gullies, caused by excessive quantities of material being washed down the road during the recent heavy rainfall.”
