The death has occurred of Brian Fennell, a well-known Independent Financial Adviser/Insurance Broker in the Pocklington/Stamford Bridge area.
He died aged 79 years in York District Hospital and was the dearly loved husband of Caroline who also worked in the business. Brian started the insurance broking business of B J Fennell Ltd in 1972 with the help of a friend and accountant Peter Roff in Selby and opened the office in Stamford Bridge in 1974.
The business expanded also as an estate agency and building society agency.
Later, the office was opened in Pocklington and with the advent of technology the Stamford Bridge Office was closed and the two integrated.
Brian qualified as an Independent Financial Adviser to meet changing regulatory requirements and Roy continued to run the general side of the business.
On reaching the age of 72 Brian and Caroline decided to retire and Roy continues to run the general side of the business.
