A solicitors firm based in Pocklington landed a major accolade at a ceremony in Birmingham.
Harrowells Solicitors became Yorkshire and North East Regional Conveyancing Firm of The Year at the major national industry awards.
The firm, which has its office in Market Place, scooped the accolade from a shortlist of three in this year’s Law Firm Services National Conveyancing Awards.
Members of Harrowells residential conveyancing team were presented with a specially-engraved trophy during the ceremony at the NEC, Birmingham, on Wednesday 14 September.
A mystery shopper exercise to evaluate how entrants provided quotations, an assessment of compliance and working practices and, for the first time, a section on cyber security, were all included in the judging process. The judge’s citation said: “Harrowells performance demonstrates their all round professionalism and ability to appeal to their clientele.”
Harrowells was among the first law firms in Yorkshire and the North East to warn about cyber security and how criminal gangs are operating in the housing chain, setting up bogus email addresses and spurious law firms, in attempts to syphon off money on the completion of house sales.
Harrowells head of residential conveyancing Kevin Millar said: “We recognise that house buying and selling is usually the biggest and most stressful transaction in many people’s lives and we work hard to support our clients through this process. We are thrilled that our commitment and professionalism is recognised with this award.”
