Mayor of Pocklington, councillor Martin Ratcliffe, said: “During the afternoon we were setting things up and the heavens opened up and we were left with the decision of whether to go ahead but we decided to go ahead as the rain eased off. It was a very successful night. The rain held off apart from light drizzle. We couldn’t have music to accompany the fireworks display as if the speakers got wet they were not insured.”
The event raised £1,000 for the mayor’s chosen charities - Pocklington uniformed groups and Pocklington Canal Amenity Society.

Dunnington’s bonfire and fireworks display, which took place at the Eastfield Showfield last Saturday, featured live music from The Shots. It raised hundreds of pounds for Dunnington Primary School, which is fundraising for an outside gym area.

Other bonfires and fireworks displays were also held in Wilberfoss, Fangfoss, Seaton Ross, and at Langlands Garden Centre in Shiptonthorpe.
