As part of the National Polli-Nation project, Bishop Wilton CofE Primary School has just started work on its new bee garden.
The children planned some fabulous improvements to the school grounds and last week they began the work.
With the aid of parents, volunteers from the Bishop Wilton Gardening Club, and the project co-ordinator Emma, the children began lifting turf, planting trees and preparing beds.
A spokeswoman at the school said: “The aim of the project is to improve the grounds for pollinating insects. There will be a wild flower meadow, annuals and perennials to attract pollinators and a mini orchard.
“The children were very excited and enthusiastic and we look forward to continuing to develop our project.”
