It was standing room only when Weighton Wolds Rotary Club recently launched the region’s first charity pop up art gallery in Market Weighton High Street, organised to coincide with Dementia Action Week.

The gallery which will be open Thursday to Saturday throughout May is selling original works donated by some of the areas most accomplished artists as well as pieces given by the public.

Colin Brown, president elect of Weighton Wolds Rotary Club, said: “We have been amazed by the generosity of the artistic community.

“The premises have been provided free of charge by Clubleys and the Rotarians are providing the staff – meaning that every penny will to Dementia charities.”

Amongst the pieces the gallery will be selling is one from Mark Dziewulski, the American artist whose own exhibition “Layers of self “ is showing in London.
