Pocklington’s community radio station will not now close this Saturday following offers to help save West Wolds Radio.
Earlier this week, the station announced that it would be closing down to stem financial losses.
But new local investment and help will form the basis of a rescue package which is being worked on this weekend. It means the station will continue broadcasting locally after Saturday at 1pm. Station volunteers have been working hard over the last few days to try to secure a future for the community service.
Manager Stuart Cocker said: “I applaud the move and hope the station can survive, building on the achievements of the last five months. This is potentially great news for our loyal audience and I thank everyone who has sent in messages of support this week.”
