Pocklington mayor’s New Year message

Mayor of Pocklington, Ann Cox

It is seven months since I became Pocklington Town Mayor and through the Pocklington Post I want to say thank you for everyone’s terrific support and the help you have shown me throughout this time.

When I took over the role of Town Mayor my main objective was to, bring the town together again and organise public events that we could all enjoy.

This started off with the Pocklington Summer Fayre, which proved very successful and was followed by the bonfire/fireworks display.

Both these events were very well supported and the monies raised will greatly benefit my two chosen charities - Pocklington Relief in Need and Pocklington Playpark Committee.

Hopefully, the town council will repeat these events next year and conditional on there being sufficient support I hope they will become regular town features.

The year ahead for the town council will involve obtaining funding to complete the refurbishment of the upstairs of the Arts Centre and for the skate park.

Once the funding is secured both these projects will enhance the town by providing further assets we can all enjoy.

May I take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year for 2014 and thank you again for all your support.
