Pocklington online food and drink retailer The London Deli Co has been recognised with a Yorkshire-wide business accolade at the Garbutt and Elliott Food Entrepreneurs Awards.

The London Deli Co was a joint winner in the Best Yorkshire Exporter category alongside Leeds-based brewery North Brewing Co.

The company was crowned alongside ten other winners at a ceremony in The Hospitium, Museum Gardens, York.

Launched in 2010 by entrepreneur Craig Benton, the company opened a new distribution centre in Pocklington in 2014, creating 30 jobs, and now exports to the United States, Middle East, India and Saudi Arabia.

Garbutt and Elliott managing partner, Russell Turner, said: “The London Deli Co is a worthy joint winner of the exporting award.

“Our judges were impressed by how the company has grown from its local roots to become a major exporter to countries across the world.

“As a major supporter of businesses in Yorkshire, we’re proud to host an event that shines the spotlight on the significant role the food and drink sector plays in creating prosperity and employment in the region.

“Congratulations to all the winners and those businesses which were highly commended – we look forward to seeing them grow and succeed throughout the coming years. We’re already planning on making next year’s event bigger and better, and encourage more food and drink entrepreneurs across Yorkshire to get involved.”
