Two members of chartered accountancy firm Smailes Goldie Limited’s team attended Pocklington School’s prize giving earlier this month to present an award to a hardworking student.
Partner Peter Duffield and manager Luke Taylor presented the Smailes Goldie Award for Business Studies 2015 to Pocklington upper sixth student Will Sangwin.
The school’s head of economics, Nick Tomaszewski, said: “Will Sangwin has shown an excellent practical, rather than academic, grasp of business. He comes from a business background and he used this to good effect when discussing strategy and decision making. We think he is a worthy candidate who typifies all that is good about business rather than academia.”
The school’s prize giving day celebrates the varied achievements of its pupils.
