Pocklington is gearing up for the Tour de Yorkshire and the bunting will be going up in the town centre very soon.

This year’s Tour de Yorkshire peloton will pass through Warter, Pocklington, Allerthorpe, Seaton Ross, Melbourne, Foggathorpe and Holme on Spalding Moor on Thursday 3 May.

The women’s race will be due in the area in the morning while the men’s race in the afternoon. Exact timings will be released at a later date.

Welcome to Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Post have linked up to run a competition to find the Tour de Yorkshire’s Best Dressed towns and villages, with four categories being contested:

l Best Dressed Village

l Best Dressed Town

l Best Dressed Host Location

l Spirit of Le Tour

A Pocklington Town Council spokesman said: “The businesses and residents are preparing to dress the town.

“This year we would like to enter the best dressed town competition, which is being held in association with the Yorkshire Post.

“We need the help of residents and businesses to help dress the town. If you are doing anything special for the Tour de Yorkshire please let us know so we can include you in our entry.”
