Police said the driver was not injured.

A number of pigs were killed yesterday when a lorry overturned on the A1079.

The accident, which took place just after the Market Weighton roundabout, saw the road closed while the emergency services dealt with the situation.

The major route was closed to allow recovery of the overturned lorry and to move the remaining livestock onto another vehicle.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “The driver of the lorry was not injured in the collision.

“The lorry had transporting livestock (pigs) and some of them sadly died in the collision.”
