Sales move ‘an end of era’ at Melbourne hall
Not many village halls can claim to have been a venue for the popular BBC television programme Antiques Road Trip – but Melbourne Village Hall is one that can.
This claim to fame was due to the hall’s long-standing link with Clubleys Sales in providing a venue for the monthly antiques sale – an arrangement that began way back in 1996.
The TV cameras rolled in to film the sale in October 2014, hosted by Antique Road Trip favourites, Christina Trevanion and Philip Serrell.
As expected, the sale was a sell-out with the many visitors enjoying a fun occasion.
The programme was subsequently aired on January 8, 2015 and Melbourne residents were delighted to see their Village Hall looking so welcoming on national TV.
Sheila Breeze said: “Sadly, this excellent partnership has come to an end as Clubleys will no longer be holding their antiques sale in Melbourne.
“Due to the closure of the hall from March 2020 because of Covid restrictions, Clubleys were forced to find an alternative venue and have decided to continue with that arrangement.
“Melbourne residents will be extremely sorry not to welcome them back to our Village Hall as it is certainly the end of an era.”
However, Melbourne Village Hall remains an attractive venue for all kinds of functions – parties for all ages, quizzes, theatre groups, race nights, dances, small or large meetings, physical activities.
