Pocklington Rotary Club members dig deep to support local and international charities

Members of Pocklington Rotary Club have produced some healthy sums for local and international charities.

Members of Pocklington Rotary Club gave £6,500 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The total raised in the past year, £6,300, is well ahead of the previous three years.

Over the past six years the Rotary Club has given out a total of £29,000 spread over 33 charities and organisations.

A spokesman said: “The main home donations include Yorkshire Air Ambulance £6,500; Action Medical Research £3,200; St Leonard’s Hospice £2,400; Pocklington Carers and trip for elderly people £2,000 and The Pocklington Mayor’s Fund (Covid relief) £750. The overseas donations include Shelter Boxes (for disaster relief) £3,500, aid for Beirut disaster £1,400, and educational projects in Africa and India £700.

“The Rotary Club members are very grateful to all who have helped to make this giving possible.

“The two main causes we will be supporting next year are The Alzheimer’s Society and The British Heart Foundation.”
