Pocklington Rotary Club has presented four robotic pets to support people with dementia at a care home.

Jaki Leckenby, care manager at the 30-strong dementia wing of the Riverside Care Complex at Kexby, received the gift of four very life-like robotic cats and dogs from Rotarian Elizabeth Parker.

Mrs Parker said: “Jaki thanked the Rotary Club and said that her residents would be absolutely delighted and derive great comfort from the ‘pets’ which have a breathing motion.”

The presentation follows a recent similar gift to the Wilberforce Lodge Care Home in Pocklington.

Mrs Parker will take over as joint president of Pocklington Rotary Club in June.
