Market Weighton

Town-wide: This year’s Market Weighton Christmas Lights Switch-on event near the Giant Bradley statue at 6.15pm. Roads leading to the High Street will be closed from 5.15pm on the day. A number of activities have been organised to keep all family members happy. Vixen 101 will be providing entertainment, there will be market stalls, children’s rides, a fire engine and police car, Hull FC’s Mark Sneyd, Brian’s Balloons, School Choir and Dancers, a chance to visit Father Christmas, craft stalls in the town hall, and the Odd One Out Competition.

Pocklington Arts Centre: Santa in Love at 2.30pm. If you have ever wanted to know where the fairy on top of the Christmas tree comes from, why you never see a Christmas elf, or what Santa loves best then this is the show for you.

Barmby Moor

St Catherine’s Church: “Nowell, Nowell!’” the choir Good Company gives a concert of old and traditional carols, plus music on medieval and Tudor instruments at 7.30pm. Mulled wine, soft drinks and mince pies available. Tickets: Adults £6, Children £1.

All Saints Church: The popular Sing your Heart out for Christmas service in aid of the church and the British Heart Foundation will be held at 6.30pm. The BHF will be joined by the local scouts, cubs and beavers groups and mulled wine and mince pies etc will be served. All Saints Church: Pocklington Singers’ spectacular concert of Christmas music at 7.30pm. The concert will be conducted by the musical director Michael Cooper. Social Club, 42 Southgate: The National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm. New members are welcome.

Pocklington Arts Centre: Influential artist John Sprakes is hosting a new exhibition at Pocklington Arts Centre (PAC). John will exhibit original pieces, depicting his journey from the figurative to the derivative and finally into abstraction, at PAC until Saturday, January 4.

Pocklington Arts Centre: Sue Clayton will unveil a collection of 12 brand new portraits at PAC early next year in an exhibition entitled ‘Downright Marvellous At Large’. 
As part of the exhibition, which will run at PAC from Tuesday 14 January – Saturday 21 March, 2020 ahead of a national tour, Sue is planning to hang the world’s biggest pair of socks as an art installation in PAC’S studio in the run up to World Down Syndrome Day.
