Here are the up to date events taking place in this area over the next few weeks.

Also included are the regular group meetings in Pocklington, Market Weighton and surrounding villages.


Pocklington Arts Centre: There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly – The People’s Theatre Company bring to life one of the world’s best nursery rhymes. For ages 2-102. Tickets £8 and £30 (family). Visit or call the box office on 01759 301547.

Burnby Hall: The 72nd Pocklington Chrysanthemum Show. There are classes for everyone Fruit and vegetables, baking, photography, handicrafts and also Chrysanthemums! Entries can be entered up until 10.30am on the Saturday morning, staging can take place on the Friday 4.30pm to 7.50pm or Saturday 7.30pm to 10.45am. The show is open to the public from 1.30pm and closes at 5pm with the prizes being presented.

Pocklington Arts Centre: China Crisis will perform from 8pm. The RETROspective tour will see the band performing these classics alongside songs from all of their seven studio albums. Tickets £20.


Jubilee Park: Annual bonfire and fireworks display. The gates open at 6pm. The fire is lit at 6.30pm, and is allowed to die down a bit before the fireworks are set off, otherwise it is too bright! This is usually about 7pm.

There will be a BBQ, refreshments, best guy and lantern contests, and a bar. Admission is £5 per adult and £3 for children or a family ticket for £15 which is payable on the gate. All the money raised from the bonfire goes towards the upkeep of Jubilee Park.

5 November


West Green: The annual bonfire and firework display. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Pocklington Arts Centre, JJP Print and Pocklington Town Council Office. The gate open at 5pm. The bonfire will be lit at 5.30pm with fireworks at 6.30pm. Timings are approximate. All profits from the Bonfire Night go towards the Mayor’s Charities which this year are the Over 60s club and Pocklington Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.

Village Hall: A double bill of comedy by the Market Weighton Community Players from 7.30pm. Tickets for the show, £8, are available from , the newsagents and the Post Office on High Street, or pay on the door.

The incredible true story of missing World War II soldier and prisoner of war Arthur Robinson, written and performed by his great-nephew David William Bryan. Yapham cum Meltonby Village Hall: La Bella and The Lost Chord of Ulanbataar, a fast-paced medley of music and laughter is certain to delight audiences. Professor Mike Burton, University of York, talks about face recognition, how the brain achieves it and how critical it is in forensic and security settings. Pocklington Arts Centre: Acoustic Blues and Roots Weekend 2019 – Friday, November 15 to Sunday, November. 17 Featuring guitar, slide guitar and performance tuition, jam sessions, student performances, great company and a Saturday night concert. Stamford Bridge

Village Hall: The Stamford Bridge Singers present an evening of ‘What the Dickens!’ for Children in Need from 5.30pm. All Saints Church: The Carers Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 1.30pm to 3pm. It is for anyone who cares for a loved one and is an informal group to give the carers a break. This is free of charge as the Church donates the room. 
The Community Hall, Station Road: Market Weighton Memory Cafe is held on the last Wednesday of every month, 1.30pm-3pm.

Social Club, 42 Southgate: The National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm. New members are welcome.
