Current and former pupils enjoyed a primary school’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Bugthorpe Primary marked the milestone on Saturday (20 June) with a party, and ex-pupils were invited to the event to enjoy the various activities that took place. There were lots of stalls, a bouncy castle, children’s tombola, coconut shy, bric-a-brac and pony rides. There was also a display of old photographs of the school. The event was the first opportunity for people to see the school’s new anniversary garden, which was designed by pupils. The garden features a large ceramic ‘50’, made from tiles embossed with everyone’s hands from the school, children and staff. Headteacher Angela Ekers said: “We had a really good turnout. We were stunned by how many people came to celebrate with us. It was lovely . We had lots of ex-pupils in their teens, quite a few in their 30’s and 40’s.”
