A mother from Pocklington who has recently had a cancerous tumour removed from one of her lungs has raised about £542 for charity.
Jenny Ellerton, 52, invited family, friends and neighbours to a strawberry tea party at her house on Rundle Court, and about 40 people attended. All funds raised from the event have been donated to Breast Cancer Care. Mrs Ellerton was diagnosed with breast cancer about four years ago and melanoma, a type of skin cancer, eight years ago. She recently had a tumour removed from one of her lungs which shows the melanoma has returned. She said: “I have been off work poorly for the last six months, I just thought this is something I can do to give a bit back. I had breast cancer four years ago and wanted to support other people who have breast cancer.”
