Sir Greg Knight MP plans to campaign for further road improvements in the region after being re-elected to represent East Yorkshire at Parliament.
Conservative Sir Greg says it is an “honour” to once again represent Pocklington, Market Weighton and the wider area of the East Riding.
He told the Post: “We must not underestimate the impact of the national economy on our local economy. Maintaining a growing UK economic base is essential. Together with low inflation, low interest rates and a falling deficit this will give businesses, farmers and residents of East Yorkshire a brighter economic outlook than we have had for a decade as well as providing security for our public services.
“During the last Parliament I was able to help secure additional local funding in a number of areas, including improvements to the A1079 and more money to fund the rolling-out of broadband in the area. In the next five years the benefits from these schemes will become apparent.
“I will continue to campaign for further road improvements as these are vital arterial lifelines for local communities. I also want to see the government keep the overall cost of transport down.”
He added: “I will continue to work for you all.”
