Fun and games were the order of the evening when members of Pocklington WI arrived at the Masonic Hall for their February meeting.
The president welcomed everybody, including two new members, and business matters were dealt with.
Members’ attention was drawn to the new notices, particularly the one asking for volunteers to tend the WI garden outside Burnby Gardens.
Reports were made of sick members, birthday buttonholes were presented, and the winner of the flowers on the table was Lorna Clayton.
Dick Watson and Keith Hara were introduced and they explained how frog racing was played. All the members were able to join at least one race, some twice.
The final race was for the winners of the heats, the overall winner being Sheila Sissons, who was presented with a small prize.
Members then enjoyed the refreshments, the competition was judged and Connie Coupland was the winner, with Maggie Hara second, and Barbara Ball third.
The fourth Friday Coffee Morning will be held at The Feathers at 10.30am on Friday 24 February, when Maggie Hara will be the hostess.
Next month’s Speakers will be Cath and Clive Richardson: their subject will be “The Woman who didn’t exist”.
Visitors will be very welcome to come and hear them at 7.15pm on Wednesday 8 March at the Masonic Hall, The Mile, Pocklington.
