Residents gathered together for a monthly support group to catch up, indulge in tea and coffee and raise funds for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association.
The group meetings, held at Burnby Hall, provide information and support for patients and carers. The event, which took place on March 18, provided refreshements as well as friendship for those in need.
Michael Shepherd, who organises the meetings, said they have around 20 people every week attend.
He set up fundraising coffee mornings after his wife, Shirley, was diagnosed with PSP, which have grown into montly meetings.
Shirley died from the Parkinson’s-like neurological condition, but Michael has continued to raise funds for the cause. There is also a raffle at the montly meetings to raise funds for the charity.
The next meeting will take place on Saturday April 22 from 2pm to 4pm.
