A group of 10 volunteers from Shiptonthorpe McDonald’s restaurant recently came together to litter pick in their local area, as part of McDonald’s ‘Keep Up the Clean Up’ campaign.

The group gave the Market Weighton Bypass a refresh, with the team collecting an impressive nine bags of litter from the Market Weighton Bypass, A1079 and the old road to Market Weighton.

McDonald’s franchisee Mike O’Reilly, who owns and operates the restaurant in Shiptonthorpe, said: “McDonald’s has been collecting litter in our communities for over 35 years, and I’m proud of our litter fighting heritage.

“I’d like to thank my team for organising this event giving up their time to help clean up the areas around Market Weighton.

“We have more clean up events planned this year and look forward to making a difference to other areas in Shiptonthorpe.”
