Residents in Market Weighton have praised this year’s Tour de Yorkshire for bringing the community together.
Hundreds of people lined the streets of the town today for the sporting extravaganza.
Donna Wilkes, of Steel Close, said: “Long may it continue coming to Market Weighton. It brings all the town together.” Linda Baines, of Medforth Street, added: “I think it is wonderful that it has come to the town. It’s great to see so many people come out even though the weather isn’t great.”
Another Market Weighton resident, Paul Anderson, of Walkington Drive, commented: “It puts Market Weighton on the map. There was great support for it in the town. Hopefully it will do some good for local shops.” Dale Needham said: “It’s great to see lots of children turn out for the event. I’d like to think it’s good for the town.”
