A MAN was seriously injured after being hit by a lorry driven by a Pocklington man near the Shiptonthorpe roundabout.
The 24-year-old Hull man was walking with a 23-year-old friend along a raised grass verge at the edge of the A614 Shipton Lane one mile west of the roundabout when he was hit by the lorry at around 2.40am on Sunday.
He suffered injuries to his chest and abdomen and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment.
He was later transferred to Castle Hill Hospital and his condition is described as comfortable.
His friend was unhurt and the driver of the lorry, a 43-year-old Pocklington man, was also uninjured.
Both pedestrians were wearing dark clothing at the time and the section of road where the incident occurred was unlit.
The A614 was closed between the Shiptonthorpe and Gally Moor roundabouts until about 8.45am.
Anyone who saw the men walking before the collision, or who witnessed the incident, is asked to contact Humberside Police on the non-emergency number 101, referring to log 111 of 29 April.
