Several events have been arranged this month to give residents the chance to make the most of nature in the area.
The events, organised by East Riding Council’s countryside access team, include a birdwatching discovery walk on Sunday (5 June) at Millington Wood and Pastures, from 9.30am to 12noon. Visitors can enjoy a stroll through the bluebells and wild garlic in Millington Wood and seek out special summer migrants like redstarts and tree pipits, with Richard Baines of Yorkshire Coast Nature. The walk around the reserve will be up to two miles.
On 26 June, residents will have the chance to discover the Yorkshire Wolds Way, from 10am to 3.30pm. A circular 9.5 mile walk will take place around Fridaythorpe and Huggate with National Trail officer Malcolm Hodgson. Meet at the walker’s shelter next to the pond in Fridaythorpe.
Booking is essential for these events. Visit www.eastriding.gov.uk/events or call 01482 395320. The events cost £3 per adult, or £2 if over 60, and family tickets are £8.
