This year's It's a Pockout is expected to be bigger and better and much more fun than last year's event.

The lucky recipients of this year’s It’s a Pockout fund pot have been announced.

The Pocklington and District Lions will be supporting the Riding for the Disabled Association and Hull and East Yorkshire MIND following a vote.

The Lions had appealed for local charities to be nominated and 15 organisations were put forward for the vote in December. The public vote closed on Tuesday 2 January.

The count was extremely close with the top five named.

They were: 1. Riding for the Disabled Association, 2. Hull and East Yorkshire MIND, 3. Wolds Wonders, 4. Melbourne Scouts and Guides, 5. Candelighters.

Last year the event raised £6,000 and this year’s It’s a Pockout will be held at Pocklington Football Club Fields on Saturday 18 August.

Lions president Tony Marron said: “We are delighted that many hundreds of people voted and got involved and we thank them for their support.

“We look forward to working with RDA and MIND to raise as much money as we can at It’s a Pockout 2018. We’re planning a knockout day.”
