There will be no shortage of laughter at Pocklington Arts Centre over the coming months.
The venue has pulled off two major coups by booking popular comedians Omid Djalili and Henning Wehn for gigs next year.
It comes just over a month after the arts centre announced that several other top comedians are set to perform at the venue from December this year to May next year. These include Stephen K Amos, Mark Watson, Gyles Brandreth, Tom Binns and Luisa Omielan.
Award-winning stand-up and acclaimed actor Djalili will take to the stage at the arts centre on 13 April. Wehn, who many will know for appearing on TV panel shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats and Would I Lie To You, will be in town on 22 April.
Assistant manager of the venue, James Duffy, is delighted that the venue has added two more top comedians to its programme of events.
He said: “We are extremely pleased to have secured shows with Omid and Henning for 2016 - both are very well known names on the national circuit and regularly perform at much larger theatres.
“Omid has appeared at the venue twice before with both events selling our months in advance. Henning performed at the venue several years ago, when he first started stand-up, as part of a line-up in our monthly comedy club in the studio.”
He added: We feel our comedy line-up for next year is one of the strongest we’ve programmed with Stephen K Amos, Mark Watson and Rob Beckitt also confirmed. We are advising advance booking for all of these performances, with sell-outs expected.”
The arts centre welcomed Irish stand-up Patrick Kielty last Saturday, who entertained a sell-out crowd. Another sell-out audience will enjoy a performance from veteran comic Jenny Eclair tomorrow (6 November).
