Anyone who did not take time out last weekend to enjoy the Battle of Stamford Bridge event, organised by the The Battle of Stamford Bridge Heritage Society, missed a real treat.
Crowds were treated to some fantastic re-enactments and the people who took on the warrior roles were outstanding with the young children, taking plenty of time to explain the battle and the way of life back in 1066.
The children even got the chance to take on the Vikings, which provided lots of enjoyment for all.
Away from the fighting there was the opportunity to see how people lived on a day-to-day basis.
The weekend was well thought out and thoroughly enjoyable.
Everyone at the society – you did an amazing job!!
Perhaps the society could make it a yearly event.
