I am writing about the photograph, above, which appeared in Sporting Past in a recent edition.
The young man in the picture is my son, Robert Collier, and in the photo he is lacing up his climbing boots in advance of him climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
As a result of his successful climb he raised over £500 for the charity Action Research.
At the time of the photo he was attending Newcastle University to complete a Masters Degree in Computer Science and his home was with my wife and I in Skirpenbeck. He now lives with his partner just outside Winchester.
His partner comes from Barcelona and is a vet in Winchester and Robert works for a non-profit international organisation which ensures that participating companies source their supplies from environmentally and socially acceptable providers. His job necessitates him travelling to South East Asia and China as well as the company HQ in Geneva.
