One really has to question our MP’s commitment to agriculture and related industries.
Fresh from supporting cuts to farm workers’ pay, Sir Greg Knight now advocates this country leaving the European Union.
Does he seriously imagine British farmers would achieve the same access to European markets when facing a 10 per cent price tariff?
Does he honestly think the UK Government would fill the gap in direct support to farming? And precisely how does he think British agriculture will cope with the withdrawal of low cost EU migrant workers?
In siding with the uninspiring supporters of Brexit, Sir Greg now seeks to lead UK agriculture into an era of deep uncertainty, probably worse that the last great agricultural recession of the 1920s and 30s.
