One of Yorkshire’s top golf courses and tourist destinations is improving its facilities for members and guests with the development of a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio along with a Nordic outdoor ‘chill out’ area.

The KP, in Kilnwick Percy, near Pocklington, has started work on its new health and fitness studio called The Box, which will have state-of-the-art equipment, outdoor steam and sauna huts, and a hot tub area – all of which will be perched on an elevated position overlooking the Yorkshire Wolds.

The Box is expected to be open in the Spring, with members and local residents all welcome to use the facilities, along with the guests staying on site.

Meanwhile, new local jobs will be created when the health and fitness studio opens.

Events and Marketing Manager Emily Stephenson said: “We think this state of the art gym and studio is a great addition to Pocklington, which will bring additional footfall to the area, and create new employment opportunities.”

The facilities will be powered by an eco-friendly Biomass boiler.

And at the same time the KP management has committed to planting 2,000 new trees on the golf course to replace the 100 trees lost in the construction of the building.

KP director Simon Dixon said he looked forward to welcoming local people as well as tourists from across the country and beyond.

He said: “We believe this new facility will further establish us as a top visitor destination for Yorkshire.

“We already have the luxury woodland lodges, hotel rooms, wedding and corporate event space along with a championship golf course, Glasshouse restaurant and bar.

“The addition of the gym and studio will mean we will be offering more comprehensive facilities and the perfect package for people wanting to relax and get away from it all.

““We very much hope the local community will also come and make use of the state-of-the-art equipment, sauna and steam huts.” The Box will also have a unique ‘chill out’ area outside, where guests will be able to relax in their dressing gowns and slippers on comfortable seating, or enjoy the outdoor sauna and steam huts.
