Plans for a new fast food restaurant in the Pocklington area are being considered by the East Riding of Yorkshire planning committee.
The application could see a KFC drive thru’ restaurant built at Broadhelm Business Park on Hodsaw Lane.
The eatery could bring much-needed jobs to the area if it is given the thumbs-up.
The proposed site lies in a mixed use area with commercial and haulage development which already includes a Shell Petrol filling station and a Starbucks drive thru’ coffee shop.
The application is seeking permission to build a 304sqm restaurant with 40 parking spaces.
The application (ref 17/03681/PLF) is currently out for public consultation with a decision expected around January next year.
The business park area is divided into two parts as a result of the construction of a roundabout onto the A1079 and the realignment of Hodsow Lane.
The plot of land to which the application relates is located to the south of Hodsow Lane and to the east of the recently formed roundabout.
A spokesman for Pocklington Town Council said that they had no problem with the proposed development. However, they added that the proposed site is in the Barmby Moor Parish Council’s area.
A KFC spokesperson said: “Nothing is confirmed on a KFC in Hodsaw Lane at the moment, but we’re always keeping our eyes peeled for development opportunities across the UK – so fingers crossed.”
