Wing Commander Jeff Metcalfe has taken on the role of RAF Liaison Officer for Yorkshire and The Humber working with York-based Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA).
Jeff, who lives in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, joins the RFCA with 37 years’ service as a Reservist, which includes 13 years with the Full-Time Reserve Service based at RAF Leeming.
While a Reservist he enjoyed a long career in banking which saw him managing branches of Lloyds TSB in Ripon, Wetherby and York.
He said: “I’m looking forward to furthering the interests of the Royal Air Force across Yorkshire and the Humber region in conjunction with RFCA, and raising the profile of the three main RAF Stations in the area, the two Auxilliary Squadrons, the University Air Squadrons and the Air Cadets.
“It’s crucial that Reservists are supported as fully as possible and in order to do that employers and businesses must also be informed and assisted in their efforts at every stage.
“Reservists bring a range of valuable skills to their organisations and I’m delighted to be able to provide that link between the Reserve Forces and the community.”
In his role as RAF Liaison Officer Jeff will be responsible for highlighting opportunities presented by the Reserve Forces.
RFCA Chief Executive Colonel (Retd) Jason Wright said: “Jeff’s vast experience and specialist knowledge of the RAF will be extremely useful to us as we work to grow relationships with businesses across the region.
“We’re delighted he’s joining us here at the RFCA to help strengthen our existing engagement team.”
