Residents of Pocklington would not have failed to see the new It’s a Pockout banners around town.

The event’s organisers Pocklington and District Lions were given a helping hand from Pocko the club’s mascot as the banners were placed in key areas to appeal for teams, stalls and sponsors.

It’s a Pockout is a charity event similar to the popular TV show It’s a Knockout, and the Lions Club is asked pubs, clubs, businesses, sports teams and groups of mates to enter the fun competition.

This year’s It’s a Pockout will be held at Pocklington Football Club Fields on Saturday 18 August. The charities set to benefit from funds raised by the event will be Riding for the Disabled Association and Hull and East Yorkshire MIND.

These two causes were selected following a public vote earlier this year.

Lions Club president Tony Marron said: “We are promoting team recruitment and have put banners up around the Town asking people to get in touch and register a team. It’s a Pockout is going to be a free family day and is going to be the best free family day out in the area ever!”

Lion Richard Knill who said “We have been working hard now for months to make sure It’s a Pockout 2018 is going to be the best free family day out ever. It’s on Saturday 18 August this year and we want to hear from anyone who wants to get involved especially teams, stalls and sponsors.

Anyone interested can get in touch via the Lions’ dedicated website at www.itsapockout.org.uk.”
