A corporate finance IT expert is planning to row a marathon for BBC Children in Need on Friday.
Clyde Dealtry, who works for Yara on Wellington Road, hopes to help his company raise money by covering 26 miles within four hours using an indoor rowing machine.
His colleagues are also hoping to contribute by keeping an exercise bike going non-stop for the entire working day.
Clyde said: “Although this is going to be both fun and painful, we are doing this for a great charity.”
He has been rowing for a year and has completed a number of half marathons, but this will be his first full marathon.
Clyde will use a Concept 2 indoor rower and start at 1pm, with the intention of completing the distance by 5pm.
His company has started a JustGiving website page for the event, with a target of £500.
Clyde’s Yara colleagues will also help by keeping an exercise bike running from 9am to 5pm.
They have devised a different type of work shift from what they are used to by assigning slots and times for employees to take over from a colleague and start peddling.
Employees will complete 10, 20, or 30 minute shifts.
