Another 'Backfire' Bike Swap - Meet Social and Show is being planned for March.

The recent “Backfire” Bike Swap - Meet Social and Show at Murton Park has been hailed as a complete success.

Despite the driving snow and freezing conditions, it was estimated around 400 people turned up for the inaugural event, which was run by the same people who organise the Backfire, Bikes at the Bridge Socials.

The Bike Swap Meet gathering saw Andy Spicer, of Dee Atkinson and Harrison Classic Vehicle Auctions, Driffield, attend, who gave details of the firm’s forthcoming auction.

Gabriel Uttley also was on hand to discuss his 400mph land speed record challenge.

The Murton Park cafe was packed with customers during the meet and it is hoped that another one will be held in March.

One of the organisers, Paul Garbutt, said: “The Swap Meet was an unqualified success with cars having to be turned away. Considering the terrible weather, to get that many people there was fantastic.

“The feedback has been nothing less than amazing.”
