Pocklington’s new £4million doctors’ surgery is now complete and ready to serve thousands of patients in the area.
After 12 months of construction work, the building, known as ‘The Beckside Centre’, on West Green, is set to open its doors, with Pocklington Group Practice to be operational from its new surroundings as of Monday (11 May).
The Practice, which has about 15,000 patients, is moving to the new centre, built by Lindum Construction, from its premises on Barmby Road.
Berni Judge, Practice and business manager, said: “After 12 months of building work, we are all now getting very excited about our move and we all look forward to moving in and welcoming all our patients into the lovely new surroundings.”
As well as a main reception, the Beckside Centre also has a separate dispensary reception which will make it much easier for patients to communicate with the dispensary staff.
There are also private rooms to enable the staff on both receptions to have any sensitive / confidential conversations with patients.
Additional consulting rooms and facilities provide the Practice with the space to meet the needs of its increasing patient list.
The additional space also provides greater opportunities for the delivery of better integrated services with community providers as well as secondary care.
Staff from Humber NHS Foundation Trust’s Neighbourhood Services team will be based at the new centre, including district nurses and community physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
They will also be joined by members of the intermediate care team who support people to stay in their own home or care home who might otherwise have to go into hospital as well as nurses from the older people’s mental health team.
The telephone number for the Practice remains the same - 01759 302500 - but the address will now be Pocklington Group Practice, The Beckside Centre, 1 Amos Drive, West Green, Pocklington, YO42 2BS.
