A conservation group in Pocklington has launched a publicity campaign to recruit new members.

A new poster and leaflet to promote the work of Friends of Pocklington Green Spaces has been designed by former Woldgate College student Jordan Morris, currently studying creative advertising at Buckinghamshire New University.

Using the slogan ‘It’s Better in Real Life’, the poster aims to encourage people to get out and help preserve and improve the local area by joining in the group’s practical conservation activities.

The leaflet details the kind of tasks undertaken in recent months. These have included clearing, pruning and planting to create wildlife habitats as well as making pathways to improve public access. Work has been carried out at Burnby Hall Gardens, West Green, Pocklington Canal and Kilnwick Percy Hall.

Copies of the leaflet can be obtained from Pocklington Library and the town’s Arts Centre. The group is informal, friendly and meets each Friday. New members are always welcome and no experience is needed, just a love of the countryside and being outdoors. To find out more or to express an interest email or visit or call 07905 033248.
