At their February meeting, Pocklington WI members welcomed Tracey Spurgin, a metal clay artist from the Craftworx Studio at Bishop Burton as the guest speaker.

Tracey gave a very interesting and informative talk on her work as a professional tutor of silversmithing using silver clay, and demonstrated her skills by making a small necklace pendant.

She very kindly donated the finished pendant as a raffle prize which was won by Pam Sawyer.

A vote of thanks was given by Jan Mitchell.

The members were sad to learn of the death of the late Brenda Richardson and a minute’s silence was held in her memory.

The topic for the competition was “A Small Work of Art” which was won by Julie Hoy. The WI’s next meeting will be on Wednesday 14 March at 7.15pm in The Masonic Hall, The Mile, and visitors are very welcome to come along.
