Preparations are underway for a fundraising open garden event in the village of Everingham.
The event, at Ellerker House on 19 April, is being held as part of the National Gardens Scheme and will be raising funds for the charities Marie Curie and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Parkinson’s UK, guest charity of the National Gardens Scheme, will have a stand at the open garden to explain how they spend money to help and support those with Parkinson’s.
The event will also feature a rare plant fair with several specialist nurseries selling a variety of interesting and unusual plants and offering advice on growing these.
In addition, homemade cakes and teas will be available throughout the day.
Ellerker House is set in five acres of garden. It is home to many very old and unusual trees, formal lawns surrounded by colour coded herbaceous borders planted for all year round colour. There is also a lake surrounded with a woodland walk and stumpery planted up for spring colour. The postcode for Ellerker House is YO42 4JA. The event will take place from 10am to 4pm. Entry costs £4.50 for adults, and is free for children .
