The Friends of Pocklington Arts Centre Committee is reminding its members about the rise in subscriptions after 40 people paid their dues at the old, lower rate.

From Thursday 1 March, any person not paying the appropriate rate after the due date of their membership renewal will not be entitled to membership benefits or have membership rights under the terms of the Friends constitution.

After the 1 March date any payments made at the incorrect rate will be treated as a donation and refunds will not be made unless a person requests one.

A spokesman said: “It is now almost a year since the increase in Friends’ membership fees was introduced, but despite several general newsletter reminders and individual reminders, 40 Friends have continued to pay at the old rate on membership renewal.

“Some members have not responded to direct requests to them to pay the difference.

“Therefore, in the interests of fairness, the committee reluctantly decided that it needs to take action to ensure that everyone pays the same rate for the same type of membership.

“Payments made at the incorrect rate will be treated as a donation to the Friends, not as membership renewal.

“The committee would like to thank all members who ensured they paid the correct membership rate.”
