Family pay tribute to motorcyclist who died in collision on B1248, Wetwang

The family of a man who sadly died in a road traffic collision on Saturday 7 September on the B1248, Wetwang, have paid tribute to him.

Oliver James Cressey (22) of Market Place, South Cave died after the motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a road sign on the B1248, Wetwang.

The family of Oliver have said: “Oliver James Cressey, age 22 was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew,cousin, boyfriend and best friend to many. Oliver grew up in South Cave and attended Ferriby Primary School before moving onto

South Hunsley and then Hull College to pursue a career in plumbing to which he had become both skilled and dedicated.

“His love of motor bikes and tinkering with all kinds of machinery started from an early age. Oliver was kind-hearted, caring and always willing to help family, friends and even strangers in times of need. His smile lit up a room and everyone who met and grew to know him, loved him.

“His family and friends are heartbroken at this tragic loss of life and would ask that their privacy be respected.

The police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen Oliver riding his Suzuki GSXR 600cc motor bike in company with his three friends on Saturday 7th September. They stopped for refreshments at the Café in Fridaythorpe before riding back on the B1248 between Wetwang and Beverley. Please contact the police if you have any information.”
