Staff at a Pocklington supermarket could lose their jobs after being told that the store will be closing and the building may be sold to a care home company.
The Co-operative store, on George Street, which employs 25 staff, is likely to close later this year. Staff were informed at a meeting recently, and the Post understands that a care home company is interested in taking over the building.
A spokesperson for The Co-operative Food said: “We can confirm that our store at George Street Pocklington is likely to close later this year. Any decision is not a reflection on the commitment and hard work of the store team.”
