Ex-Pock rugby player makes World Cup debut

It’s been quite a month for Pocklington’s rugby star Rob Webber.

The former Pocklington Rugby Club player and ex-Pocklington School pupil made his World Cup debut for England last Friday, 
coming on as a second-half substitute against Fiji at Twickenham.

He was watched from the stands by his proud parents Mike and Gwen, who had travelled down to London from East Yorkshire.

The weekend before the game Rob and his England teammates were welcomed at Sandhurst Military Academy ahead of the Rugby World Cup to receive their tournament caps.

Before this Rob attended the ‘Wear the Rose’ concert was at the O2 arena in 
London with the England team, and joined pop sensations Take That on stage at the end.

Bath hooker Rob said on Twitter following England’s win over Fiji: “Thank you for all the messages of support in the build up to last night!

“Incredible feeling to be a part of it. @englandrugby.”
